The Rutland Local Health Office covers Rutland County and the Rutland Hospital Service Area. We live in the communities we serve, and are here to protect and promote the health of all Vermonters. We do this in many ways and with many partners. Working with community coalitions, we address public health concerns like tobacco use, obesity and substance abuse. We work with schools, worksites and other partners to create an environment of health by addressing core issues that negatively affect health. We are involved with health care reform addressing access to care, clinical best practice and self-management support. We provide direct services by enrolling pregnant women, new mothers and young children into the WIC Program. We also provide immunizations and make referrals to other community programs and resources. We invite you to learn about the many ways we can help you, your family, and your community be healthy.

The well-being of pregnant and postpartum women and their families is a cornerstone of public health.
We work with many partners so that our communities will be a place where people of all ages and abilities can move safely and get healthy food.
We work with local employers to start worksite wellness programs. Programs that make it easier to live a healthy life are good for Vermont workers and good for Vermont businesses too.
We work to improve the health and well-being of school-aged children across Rutland County. We support supervisory unions, school districts, community organizations, students and their families by helping with high-impact strategies that make a difference in health.
We work closely with families and medical practices to increase the number of people in Rutland County who receive all their recommended immunizations.
We work with partners in Rutland County to prevent disease. We provide education and other resources. When disease occurs, we work to identify it and stop it from spreading. We welcome your questions about infectious disease.
Regional Substance Abuse Prevention Consultants work with community groups, schools, human service agencies, hospitals, law enforcement, parents, youth and others to strengthen the community’s health and reduce substance misuse and abuse.
In an effort to reduce tobacco use in Rutland County, we connect tobacco prevention and quit partners with schools and community organizations.
