National EMS Week is May 17-23, 2020

Wednesday, May 20, 2020 is Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Day.

EMS Week Certificates

Certificates for years of service in EMS will be available for printing. The certificates will be emailed back to the requester in PDF form; it will be the responsibility of the requester to print them off, preferably on card stock or certificate paper, and present them to the recipients. As in the past, the request must be in five year increments only – five, ten, fifteen, twenty, twenty-five years, etc. All levels of pre-hospital personnel are eligible for certificates – Emergency Medical Responder (formerly known as First Responder, or FR Defibrillator, Emergency Medical Technician (formerly known as Basic), Emergency Medical Technician – Intermediate, Advanced- Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic (formerly known as EMT-P),  Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse,  Emergency Medical Dispatcher, Emergency Communications Registered Nurse, Lead Instructor, Trauma Nurse Specialist  The deadline for submission of names to the Department is undefined this year due to the Covid response.  The certificates will be created and emailed as they are requested .  Please use the form “2020 EMS Week Years of Service Certificate Table” for submission of certificate recipients.  Prior to submission of the form, please ensure that all names are spelled correctly and that the correct level and the number of years of service are indicated for each entry. Please pay close attention to the attached instructions when filling out the form. At the bottom of the form all information must be present; submitted by, system number, telephone number and e-mail address.

Forms will only be accepted in electronic word format on the prescribed form (no PDFs).  No other means of submission will be accepted. Please e-mail completed forms to Julie Havens at Julie.Havens@illinois.gov.

EMS Week Awards

Awards for EMS Instructor, Public Educator, Response/Professional and Response/Layperson will also be given again this year.  If you would like to nominate someone for one of the categories please use the form “EMS Week Award Application” for submission.    Please e-mail completed forms to Julie Havens at julie.havens@illinois.gov
