FMCSA Proposes New Pilot Program to Provide Commercial Drivers Additional Hours of Service Flexibility
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administrator (FMCSA) today announced a new proposed pilot program for commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers to evaluate two additional options for splitting sleeper berth periods – a 6/4 split and a 5/5 split.

Truck Driver from Mexico Prohibited from Operating Commercial Vehicles in U.S.
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has declared Mexico-licensed commercial driver Mario Alberto Leal-Salas to be an imminent hazard to public safety, thereby prohibiting him from operating any commercial motor vehicle in the United States. Leal-Salas was served the federal order with the assistance of Mexico's Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes (Secretariat of Communications and Transportation) on January 2, 2021.
FMCSA Declares Arizona Truck Driver to be an Imminent Hazard
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has declared Arizona-licensed commercial driver Jordan A. Barson to be an imminent hazard to public safety and has ordered him not to operate any commercial motor vehicle in interstate commerce. Barson was served the federal order on December 23, 2020.

U.S Department of Transportation Issues Final Rule to Streamline Process for Aspiring Truck and Bus Drivers
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) today announced a final rule to streamline the process for men and women interested in entering the trucking workforce. The new rule will allow states to permit a third-party skills test examiner to administer the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) skills test to applicants to whom the examiner has also provided skills training.

U.S. Department of Transportation Sponsors Capitol Christmas Tree During Journey Across the United States
MONTROSE, Colo. – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) today joined the 2020 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree’s journey from its origin in Uncompahgre National Forest in Colorado to the nation’s capital. FMCSA’s on-the-ground team is working with local law enforcement to conduct a safety inspection of the commercial truck that will transport the 55-foot Engelmann spruce to its destination at the United States Capitol.
