- Find Childcare for Essential Workforce - Map
- Find Child Care for a Child with Special Needs: We encourage those who have children with special needs to call a Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) Parent Specialist and discuss child care options in your area. The Parent Specialist can talk with you about your child’s special needs and search their database to see if there are child care programs in your area that have indicated they are able to meet special needs. The CCR&R parent referral number is 1-855-CHILD-01 (1-855-244-5301).
- Child Care: Learn more about and find licensed centers, registered child development home or child care home settings.
- Quality Rating System: Many providers improve their performance by participating in a voluntary quality rating system.
- Childcare Compliance and Complaint Reports: Search a listing of all licensed child care centers and homes to view their annual compliance evaluations and any complaint reports that have been filed.
- Child Care Assistance: Iowa offers subsidized child care for children in families with low incomes. Contact the Centralized Child Care Assistance Eligibility Unit (CCA) at 866-448-4605 for questions about child care assistance.
- Statistics: The Iowa Department of Human Services must report on the following incidents that occur in a child care setting: substantiated abuse, child deaths, or serious injuries.
If you have concerns regarding a specific child care provider or child care business that is not meeting Iowa regulations, please contact the Iowa Child Care Complaint Hotline at 844-786-1296.
If you suspect a child under the age of 18 is being abused or neglected:
- If you believe the child is in imminent danger, CALL 911 immediately.
- Call the Abuse Hotline at 1-800-362-2178, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please be ready to provide identifying information and the whereabouts of the child. You may remain anonymous.
