Reinstatement is the process by which a license is reactivated after it has lapsed. Complete the application online. Educators employed in a Vermont school will Reinstate through their Local/Regional Standards Board.
Professional Learning
License Level I
Level I endorsements are required to have three credits (or 45 hours) of new professional learning per endorsement. At least one credit (or 15 hours) of new learning must apply directly to the knowledge and performance standards of the endorsement to be renewed.
The remaining two credits need to fall within the Core Teaching and Leadership Standards for Vermont Educators.
An applicant shall meet the following requirements for updated knowledge and skills when there is a time lapse of ten (10) or more years since the educator’s last renewal of a Vermont Educator’s License.
a. Six (6) credits/ 90 hours of professional learning in the endorsement area recommended for licensure, within the last five (5) years are required.
b. Two (2) credits/30 hours of the six (6) credits/90 hours must align with the content and knowledge standards of the endorsement.
License Level II
For educators who held a seven-year Level II license, endorsements are required to have nine credits (or 135 hours) of new professional learning per endorsement. At least three credits (or 45 hours) of new learning must apply directly to the knowledge and performance standards of the endorsement to be renewed. The remaining six credits need to fall within the Core Teaching and Leadership Standards for Vermont Educators.
