Preliminary Maps & Data for 2020

As of January 5, 2021, a total of 44 states have reported West Nile virus infections in people, birds, or mosquitoes in 2020. Overall, 557 cases of West Nile virus disease in people have been reported to CDC. Of these, 422 (76%) were classified as neuroinvasive disease (such as meningitis or encephalitis) and 135 (24%) were classified as non-neuroinvasive disease.
