Judiciary

The Committee on the Judiciary has broad jurisdiction covering our federal courts and judicial nominations, voting rights, gun violence prevention, antitrust law, domestic violent extremism and terrorism, criminal justice reform, and immigration. The Committee also plays a critical oversight role over the Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Department of Homeland Security.

Senator Blumenthal has made defending voting rights, preventing gun violence, championing civil rights, and protecting reproductive rights top priorities.

on Commerce, Science & Transportation

The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation has jurisdiction over a variety of domestic and international commercial areas. With a wide ranging portfolio including transportation infrastructure, maritime security and environmental protection, and science and technology research the committee plays a pivotal role in American business.

Senator Blumenthal has an extensive history in advocating on behalf of consumers and will continue to champion these issues as a member of the committee.

on Armed
Services

The Committee on Armed Services is responsible for conducting oversight of the nation’s military forces, including the Department of Defense, military research and development, and a variety of other matters related to the country’s defense.

Senator Blumenthal is committed to protecting U.S. national security and providing service members and their families with the resources they need to defend our nation. He is also a proud advocate for the Connecticut defense industrial base workforce, from large prime contractors to small businesses within the supply chain.

on Veterans'
Affairs

The U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs oversees the governments’ role and relationship with our retiring service members and veterans. The committee focuses on veterans benefits, post-service civil life, mental and physical health care and other issues affecting our nation’s heroes.

Senator Blumenthal has dedicated his career to honoring and caring for veterans of all eras and will use his position on the committee to fight for Connecticut veterans and their families, improve veterans’ healthcare, smooth the transition from the Department of Defense to the VA, foster employment opportunities for veterans, and expedite the VA claims process.

Special Committee on Aging

The Special Committee on Aging is responsible for studying and overseeing programs and policies related to seniors’ financial and social wellbeing. The Committee serves as a hub for discussion of crucially important issues like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, retirement security, access to health care, fraud prevention, and caregiving.

Senator Blumenthal has long advocated on behalf of the interests of Connecticut seniors and will continue to be a champion for older Americans.
