Veterans History Project

The Veterans History Project was created by the United States Congress to preserve veterans’ first-hand accounts of their time in military service. The project was initiated in an effort to preserve veterans’ unique experiences and document their stories for future generations.

 

 

The project encourages veterans who served in any capacity and with any rank to contribute to the project through recounting their experiences and submitting documents, photographs, and additional supplemental materials to preserve a vibrant history of their service. Volunteers are  trained prior to the interviews on how to document the veterans’ stories and will then interview several local heroes who will be on hand to participate in the program. All materials and accounts will be permanently preserved in the Library of Congress.
