NEWSLETTER: Get Your Booster and Flu Shot This Season

A MESSAGE FROM CONGRESSMAN HOYER

With cold and flu season around the corner, it's time to think about protecting yourself and your family from the flu and COVID-19. Maryland has launched a concentrated campaign to administer the newly approved COVID-19 bivalent boosters. These updated COVID-19 vaccines are designed to target the newer, more prevalent variants of COVID-19, Omicron BA.4 and BA.5. These vaccines are now available at over 850 pharmacies, clinics, and local health departments in our state. The flu and bivalent booster shots are safe to be taken together, and you can do so simultaneously for optimal protection.

If you have not received a vaccine or a booster shot within the last two months you should check to see if you or your loved one is eligible for the booster or vaccine. Even if you have already had COVID-19, getting vaccinated and boosted helps prevent community spread and the development of new and worse strains of the COVID-19 virus.  Vaccines and booster shots are free of charge and scheduling your shot is simple. To find a vaccination clinic near you, please visit covidvax.maryland.gov.

For additional help and resources, you can contact the GoVax Call Center at 1-855-MDGOVAX (1-855-634-6829) today. This center is available throughout the week, with support services in over 200 languages, and they have already begun reaching out to eligible Marylanders to help assist with important booster and vaccination planning, including vaccinations at home and rideshare options to address transportation challenges. The American Rescue Plan, which Democrats passed last year, made it possible for households in Maryland’s Fifth District to access free vaccines and booster shots, and I will continue fighting in Congress to make sure Maryland has the tools it needs to continue responding to this pandemic.

As always, I encourage all Fifth-District residents to continue sharing their concerns and feedback with me by contacting my office or connecting with me on FacebookTwitter, or Instagram. If you are need of assistance, such as with help accessing veterans’ benefits or have another issue regarding a federal agency, and you wish for my office to place an inquiry on your behalf, please complete the casework request form by clicking here.

Sincerely Yours,
