VETERANS HISTORY PROJECT
The Texas Panhandle is home to many brave heroes who have served our country in the United States military, and as your Congressman, I want to make sure your remarkable stories are documented at the Library of Congress for generations to come.
This year, my office is bringing the Veterans History Project, which is a part of the Library of Congress, to the 13th District of Texas. The Veterans History Project was created by Congress in 2000 to collect, preserve, and make accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans, so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war.
I know it can sometimes be hard to dig up those memories, but I really believe it’s important to make sure future generations can learn from firsthand accounts of our experiences as servicemembers and now veterans. I’ve already done my interview for the Veteran’s History Project, and I hope you’ll participate with me. If you are interested in viewing part of my interview, please click here.
PARTICIPATION
All U.S. military veterans from World War I through the most recent conflicts who reside in the 13th District of Texas can participate. To have your story submitted to the Library of Congress, the Veterans History Project requires a taped interview at least 30 minutes long, original narratives and wartime journals of at least 20 pages, OR 10 original photos or letters.
Team Jackson has been trained to conduct your interview or collect your documents and photos to submit your story to the Library of Congress.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
My Amarillo and Wichita Falls teams will be conducting interviews Monday-Friday from October 18-October 29, 2021. If you are interested in participating, please complete the forms below and email them to TX13.VHP@mail.house.gov along with preferred interview dates and times.
