WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) introduced a congressional record celebrating Douglas County, Colorado, being ranked the second healthiest community in the U.S. by U.S. News and World Report in 2021.
"Douglas County's 63,000 acres of natural land are home to three state parks, the Reuter-Hess Reservoir, the Devil's Head National Recreation Trail, and the beautiful Rocky Mountains – all of which enjoy 300 days of sunshine each year. Residents of the community value the parks and nature and consistently prioritize health and wellness," said Rep. Buck.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Reps. Ken Buck (R-Colo.), Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.), Jason Crow (D-Colo.), Scott Tipton (R-Colo.), and Joe Neguse (D-Colo.), and Sens. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) and Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) are calling on Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to expand the definition of "local government" in the CARES Act to include counties with populations under 500,000. The program's arbitrary definition leaves hundreds of counties nationwide, including 59 of the 64 counties across Colorado, ineligible for assistance through the CARES Act.
