We have come a long way in our fight for equal rights, protections and justice for all under the law but our fight still continues.
In 2017 I traveled with my hero and civil rights icon, Representative John Lewis and many of my colleagues in Congress to Selma, Alabama.
During my time in Selma I was reminded of President Barack Obama’s words when he spoke at the 50th anniversary of "Bloody Sunday". President Obama said, "Selma shows us that America is not the project of any one person. Because the single most powerful word in our democracy is the word 'We.' We the people. We shall overcome. Yes we can."
From our African American community to our Jewish community to our LGBTQ community to our Immigrant community we are continually reminded of the similarities we all share and understand now more than ever in today’s day and age an attack against one of us is an attack against all of us.
When we work together, we build a stronger tomorrow for each and every person in our communities.

PA Congressional Leaders Introduce Measure To Help Victims Of Gun Violence Identify And Access Resources To Meet Their Needs
In cooperation with the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), the National Urban League launched a multi-city Jobs and Justice tour. During the tour, the National Urban League and its local affiliates will lead a series of town hall discussions about policies that will increase the upward social mobility of African-American families, and help ensure equal protection under the law. The town hall discussions will also focus on how African-Americans can use their voice and vote to change their communities and the country.

“Yesterday, Americans nationwide saw President Trump’s true colors—not only did he walk back his comments with vitriol, he commended the actions of neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and the remaining groups in the Alt-Right.”
“President Trump has proven that his loyalty lies with hate groups instead of Americans who believe that our country has no time for hatred, bigotry, or racism.”

“This morning, the Supreme Court upheld President Trump and his Administration’s divisive and discriminatory MuslimBan.
While I’m incredibly disappointed by the Supreme Court’s decision, our fight is far from over. The city of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection will continue to welcome all nationalities with open arms regardless of the cruel actions led by Trump and his colleagues.

This week, Congressman Dwight Evans attended Agriculture (Ag) Progress Days at Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pennsylvania. While there, Congressman Evans participated in various events throughout the day, starting with a hearing with Pennsylvania State Legislators on the state of Agriculture in Pennsylvania. He also co-moderated a forum entitled "Barnyard Discussion: Issues Driving the State of Pennsylvania Agriculture" with Rep. Glenn Thompson (PA-05), Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture, Russell Redding, and President of Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, Rick Ebert.
