A Seaford resident attempting to renew his expired passport ran into difficulty when he tried to correct the inclusion of his middle name on his passport to match the way it appears on his drivers license. My casework team reached out to the passport office on his behalf and the issue was resolved inside a week.

A Levittown resident inadvertently put the wrong withholding amount on his tax form and as a result appeared to owe taxes and began receiving delinquency notices from the IRS. My caseworkers reached out and were able to correct the issue. The constituent received his correct tax refund plus interest within two weeks of contacting my office.

A Seaford resident with Crohn's disease suddenly learned that his insurance would no longer cover a medication he has been taking for 20 years. There was no generic alternative and other medications either hadn't work for him or had caused adverse reactions. My casework team got involved and were able to get coverage extended for the medication he needed.

Like so many small businesses on Long Island, a family owned Italian food distributor out of West Sayville has been struggling since the start of the pandemic. After applying for federal assistance, and hearing nothing in return from the IRS, the owners reached out to my office. We were able to find out that the IRS mistakenly believed this business did not qualify for the aid it was requesting. Once the error was uncovered, this West Sayville business received nearly $150,000 in IRS Employee Retention Credits which they were owed.

When a Levittown Vietnam Veteran passed away this week, his family was horrified to find his burial at Calverton National Cemetery was denied due to bureaucratic error and some misfiled paperwork. They contacted me and within 24 hours, my office cleared up the discrepancy so his family could give him the hero's burial he deserves.
