Hoyer (MD-05) joined Senators Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Congressmen Dutch Ruppersberger (MD-02), John Sarbanes (MD-03), and Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) announced $2,844,230 in federal funding to support projects at museums, libraries, and educational institutions across Maryland. The funding, which is administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), comes from annual appropriations legislation and the American Rescue Plan, both of which the lawmakers fought to pass.

The House passed this legislation over a year ago on June 26, 2021 to remove from public display in the U.S. Capitol other statues or busts that are symbols of slavery and segregation, including those of individuals who served voluntarily in the Confederate States of America. This letter is a follow up letter to one the lawmakers sent on September 24, 2021.

Today, House Democrats passed the landmark Inflation Reduction Act, a monumental achievement that will deliver significant results for families in Maryland’s Fifth Congressional District. I was proud to help send this legislation to President Biden’s desk to sign into law. The Inflation Reduction Act is part of Democrats’ historic record of achievement this Congress—the fourth leg of our table of support and opportunity for the American people, complementing the already-enacted American Rescue Plan, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and CHIPS and Science Act.
