Merkley Applauds Energy Efficiency Announcement
Portland, OR – Oregon’s Senator Jeff Merkley made the following statement after the White House announced that it will direct agencies to establish financing arrangements and public-private partnerships to spur billions of dollars in energy efficiency renovations on federal buildings at no cost to taxpayers:
“I applaud the White House’s decision today to move forward with energy efficiency renovations that will put Americans back to work. These renovations are good for our economy, good for our environment, and good for our pocketbooks. There are no up-front costs to taxpayers and the renovations will provide significant savings to taxpayers over time. Moreover, they will provide much-needed construction jobs and support the American manufacturers who make the renovation materials. This kind of common sense jobs initiative is exactly what Congress should be pursuing, and I’m going to keep pushing to expand these efforts.”
