Military Families and Servicemembers

Our community is home to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, where tens of thousands of servicemembers and their families live and work. Our men and women in uniform and their families aren’t just on the front lines of defending our freedom—they’re our neighbors, and it’s up to us to serve for them like they serve us. As a member of the House Armed Services and Foreign Affairs Committees, I’m proud to advocate for our servicemembers and their families.

During my time in Congress, I have:

  • Passed legislation to help ensure drinking water near our Joint Base is free of toxic chemicals like Per-and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS);
  • Created economic opportunities for military spouses and for servicemembers transitioning into civilian life;
  • Authored legislation to ensure local small businesses and companies that hire workers from our local community have a chance to compete for military construction contracts;
  • Provided pay parity for our National Guard and Reserves; and
  • Led bipartisan legislation to honor the sacrifices our military families make.

Moreover, I firmly believe that no member of our military should be without healthcare, food, housing or the childcare they need. That’s why I:

  • Authored the Healthcare for Our Troops Act to ensure our Guard and Reservists get TRICARE coverage at no cost;
  • Am committed to eliminating hunger among military families;
  • Voted in support of a basic needs allowance; and
  • Am working hard to provide more safe, reliable childcare options for our servicemembers and their families.
