Welcome to Colorado, Secretary Pete Buttigieg!
Dear Friends, In November, we did something historic in passing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. In the next year alone, the bill will provide our state with $45 million for bridges and $54 million to upgrade public transit systems, putting thousands of Coloradans to work cutting down commute times and reducing emissions. It also allocates over $700 million dollars for highway repairs in the next five years. As implementation of this historic law continues, I was thrilled to welcome … Continue Reading

Remembering Amache, Honoring the American Story
Dear Friends, Bob Fuchigami was just 11 when his family was ordered to leave their home with no explanation of their destination. Our Evergreen neighbor and constituent would go on to spend three years unjustifiably imprisoned at the Amache Incarceration Site in Southeast, Colorado. The internment of Japanese Americans is no doubt one of the darkest scars in our country's history. Coloradans are no strangers to it, as many more of our neighbors have shared stories about their time in Amache … Continue Reading

Delivering for Main Street Economies
Dear Friends, Small businesses are at the heartbeat of our local economies and our communities. As small business owners across the Second District continue to rebuild from the COVID-19 pandemic and devastating wildfires in our communities, my office has been hard at work to expand access to government resources to help all business owners thrive and grow. I am pleased to report that the PRICE Act, my bipartisan legislation to expand federal contract opportunities for small businesses PASSED … Continue Reading

What Infrastructure Means To Us
Dear Friends, Since I arrived in Washington, I've been focused on delivering for the people of our district and for Colorado. After countless conversations across our ten counties with Mayors, County Commissioners, firefighters, commuters and Colorado families about the impacts of Colorado's congested highways and crumbling bridges, I am so proud to have played a role in enacting the historic, once-in-a-generation Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, signed into law by President Biden in November. … Continue Reading

To that end, just last fall one of my constituents from Broomfield did exactly that, and reached out to our office to share an idea for a powerful policy fix to combat a pervasive discriminatory practice. The Time to Safeguard Voting Rights Is Now
Dear Friends,On Monday, we will celebrate the powerful legacy of the late Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. and all that he did in his lifetime to advance justice and equality. As Dr. King poignantly said: "the time is always right to do what is right." As we witness the most coordinated state-level effort in generations to restrict the right to vote, now is the time for the Congress to take clear, decisive action to advance voting rights. That's why, this week, the House took a vote to combine … Continue Reading

Calling for Action on Gun Violence
Dear Friends, Last week, I had the privilege of hosting Tom Mauser as my guest at the State of the Union address to highlight the urgent need for action on the gun violence epidemic from our leaders in Washington. Tom lost his son Daniel Mauser in the Columbine shooting in 1999 and has since become a vocal and prominent advocate for gun violence prevention legislation, wearing his son's shoes throughout Colorado advocating to close the background check loophole that contributed to Daniel's … Continue Reading

In Colorado We Do Things A Little Bit Differently
Dear Friends, In Colorado, we do things a little bit differently. We listen to each other, we respectfully exchange views and we roll up our sleeves to find solutions that will benefit our communities, our nation and the planet. That's exactly what I've sought to accomplish since being sworn into Congress last January. In my first year in office, I introduced 30 pieces of legislation, many of which were bipartisan bills worked on across party lines in Congress. I held 24 town halls across … Continue Reading
