In 2019, Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon launched the Congressional Youth Cabinet (CYC), a nonpartisan initiative to provide high school students in Pennsylvania’s 5th Congressional District with an opportunity to learn more about Congress and the policymaking process. Members of the CYC get to share their ideas about solving pressing issues facing young Americans, and will also have the opportunity to connect with other elected officials, peers, and community leaders.

Applications for this year's CYC are now being accepted. Prospective applicants must be juniors or seniors during the 2022-2023 academic year.

In addition to completing the application form, students will also be required to provide the following items:

  • Written statement on why you would like to serve on the CYC (maximum 500 words)
  • Personal resume detailing academic, extracurricular, work, and community-related experiences
  • One letter of recommendation from a teacher, employer, or someone who can share why you would be a good candidate for the CYC

All applications must be submitted by Friday, September 16th. Interested students should complete the Congressional Youth Cabinet application and either email it to CYC.Scanlon@mail.house.gov or send it in through the U.S. Postal Service to the district office (2501 Seaport Drive, BH230 - Chester, PA 19013).

If you have any questions about the program, please contact CYC.Scanlon@mail.house.gov.
