The New Mexico delegation will be holding a Virtual Service Academy Information Session on April 27^th at 7:00pm MT. Please click here to register!

The honor of attending a service academy comes with the obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation. For more information, please review the page of Frequently Asked Questions for those seeking a Military Academy Nomination.

Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.

Congresswoman Stansbury may nominate up to ten individuals for each vacant academy slot allotted to our district. Eligibility for Nomination

U.S. citizen
Resident of New Mexico’s 1st District
Unmarried
Not pregnant, ad without legal obligation to support dependents
At least 17 years of age and not yet 23 years old on July 1 of the year of the applicant would enter an academy (25 years old for U.S. Merchant Marine Academy)

Application Components

Official SAT/ACT scores
Official high school transcript (in a signed and sealed envelope)

Two letters of recommendation from non-relatives
Personal Essay

The application will close on October 7th, 2022 at 11:59pm MT. Interviews will be conducted in person on November 5th, 2022. All candidates that apply by the deadline will be extended an interview.
