Congressional App Challenge

I am inviting middle and high school students from California’s 8th District to participate in the 2021 Congressional App Challenge! The annual competition is a non-partisan congressional initiative to encourage middle and high school students to pursue an interest in STEM and computer science.

The Congressional App Challenge is hosted through the U.S. House of Representatives and provides students across the country with an opportunity to compete with their peers in creating and showcasing their software application, or “app,” for mobile, tablet, or computer devices. Middle and high school students currently residing in or attending school in the 8th District are eligible to participate and may compete as individuals or in teams of up to four. A panel of local judges who work in the software and entrepreneurial fields will judge the district’s submissions. The winning submissions will have their app displayed in the U.S. Capitol, be featured on the U.S. House of Representatives website, and be invited to attend the #HouseofCode Capitol Hill Reception.

The Congressional App Challenge rules are as follows:

All entries must be original in concept, design and execution and may not violate any U.S. copyright laws. Any entry that has been copied from an existing work that was created by someone other than the student is a violation of the competition rules and will not be accepted.

Participants must submit their app along with required materials and any additional accompanying information through the official competition website at www.CongressionalAppChallenge.us by midnight EDT on November 1, 2021.
