America’s skyrocketing national debt is one of the largest current threats to our nation’s economy. As a small business owner, I understand the importance of a responsible budget, and I am committed to bringing that same small business mindset to the House Budget Committee on which I serve. I am dedicated to finding solutions that will balance the federal budget and rein in our national debt.

Madam Speaker – I rise today to oppose this $2.5 trillion debt limit increase which this Congress is voting on without any discussion of how this debate will ever be repaid.
U.S. Congressman Jay Obernolte (R-Hesperia) voted no on the massive social spending bill on Friday morning after the non-partisan score from the Congressional Budget Office proved that the bill would add hundreds of billions of dollars to the federal deficit despite White House claims to the contrary.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi should never be counted out when it comes to finding common ground with Sen. Joe Manchin on the final price tag for the $3.5 trillion reconciliation spending bill, but Republicans are holding out hope that the moderate Democrats will hold firm on paring the bill back, Rep. Jay Obernolte said on Newsmax Thursday.
