This is excellent news and the correct, just ruling! If you want to get the COVID shot, then get it. If you don't want to get it, then don't get it, but nobody should be fired for this personal decision.
Listening to my constituents’ questions and insight is such an important part of my job. Throughout my four terms in Congress, I have always made it a top priority to frequently travel all across the First District and interact with my constituents and gain their perspectives. Telephone Town Halls have always served as a productive platform for conversations with Long Islanders about the important issues facing our communities and our country and how I can best represent them, and last night’s event was no different.
For far too long, Jewish New Yorkers have lived in fear of violence and hate because of their religious beliefs. The data is alarming. New York State leads the nation in antisemitic incidents. Arrests for attacks on Jews in 2022 already far exceed last year’s total. Out of hundreds of hate crimes committed, only one offender has served even a single day in prison. The data is overwhelming. Instead of violent antisemites declaring open season on Jewish New Yorkers, it's long past time for the criminal justice system in this state to bring down the hammer big time on these criminals and make it crystal clear that there is a zero tolerance policy for violent attacks on innocent victims and religious freedom.
