Walberg Visits Southern Border to See Biden’s Border Crisis

July 25, 2022

Eagle Pass, Texas—Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) visited the U.S.-Mexico border on Monday to hear from border personnel and see firsthand the ongoing humanitarian and national security crisis. Walberg joined a congressional delegation led by Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) that included briefings from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials, a stop at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry, a tour of the migrant processing center, and roundtables with law enforcement and other stakeholders.

“The chaos at the southern border is undeniable and exponentially worse than my previous trips I have taken there. After talking with officials on the ground, there is no doubt that President Biden’s lax border policies have caused a full-blown crisis that continues to spiral out of control. Illegal border crossings keep shattering records and drug cartels are emboldened, smuggling illicit fentanyl and human trafficking victims across the border and into our communities,” said Walberg. “I am grateful to the dedicated men and women who bravely protect the border, but it is clear they are overwhelmed and the Biden Administration refuses to give them the needed resources to address this historic influx of migrants. We must stand with our border patrol officers, finish building the wall, and secure the border now.”
