If you listen closely, you can hear a 16-year-old girl's cry for help. "How dare you!"

Her young voice echoes hauntingly through the air as it falls on the ears of those crazy enough to clog up intersections in Washington, D.C., and cities across the world.

Those in the room last week at the United Nations listening to her desperate cry for help applauded. What else can they do? They clap because it looks like they care. They applaud something they say they believe, but will never act on.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), U.S. Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine), U.S. Representative Scott Peters (CA-52), and U.S. Representative Matt Gaetz (FL-1), on Friday wrote in strong opposition to the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposal to modify the New Source Performance Standards (NSPS), an Obama administration regulation to limit methane emissions from new, reconstructed, and modified sources in the oil and gas sector.

Each year, millions of tourists travel to Florida to visit our state’s incredible beaches, waterways and fisheries. The effects of climate change pose a risk to Florida’s small businesses and tourism-based economy, and it’s why our country needs a Green Real Deal to address these challenges. I thank CRES for the honor of a Clean Energy Champion award and look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues to advance responsible policies that positively impact our country’s climate and energy needs for America to continue to lead in reducing emissions and exporting energy.
