What is the Congressional Art Competition?

High school students from the 7th Congressional District of Pennsyvlania are welcomed to participate in the 39th Annual Competition and Exhibition. Since it’s beginning in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated in this competition nationwide. The first place entry from each participating congressional district will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel Gallery of the United States Capitol for one year. 

 

How to enter:

CREATE YOUR ARTWORK: Each student may enter up to two (2) pieces for this exhibition and competition! All works of art are to be two-dimensional. Please refer to official guidelines for subject matter recommendations.

DECIDE ON YOUR PRESENTATION: These will be displayed digitally, however, keep the guidelines in mind in case you are the winner and your piece is displayed in the Cannon Tunnel Gallery!
Please note: Unframed works must not exceed 20” x 20” in any direction. Framed work must not exceed 26” x 26”x 4” in any direction.

MAT OR MOUNT YOUR WORK: Matted work does not require hanging wires. Consider matting if you are working with collage, drawings, prints, mixed media, computer generated art, and/or photography. All 2D medias are welcome. Please make sure that all pieces of work are original productions. Scanned or replicated works will not be accepted. CANVAS BOARDS - Paintings on canvas boards do not need to be matted or wired. 

SUBMITTING YOUR WORK: Please email your entries with your entry / release form to your work to emily@baumschool.org by April 25, 2022. Please make sure that your photo or scan is high resolution and sent as a .jpg.
