Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-26) announced that the House of Representatives passed H.R. 6, the American Dream and Promise Act, which he’s a cosponsor of, by a vote of 237-187. The bill takes several steps to protect Dreamers, those who were brought to the US as children of undocumented immigrants, and those with either Temporary Protected Status (TPS) or Deferred Enforced Departure (DED).

Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-26) announced approval in the House of Representatives of the Equality Act (H.R. 5), a bill that ensures LGBTQ Americans are equally protected from discrimination under federal law.  Higgins is an original sponsor of the bill which was introduced by Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI-1) and has a total of 240 cosponsors.

Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-26) announced passage of H.R. 7, the Paycheck Fairness Act, by a vote of 242-187 in the House of Representatives. The legislation was introduced by Rep. Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) and Rep. Higgins is one of its 239 cosponsors. H.R. 7 builds on the progress made and closes loopholes in the 1963 Equal Pay Act, which amended the Fair Labor Standards Act to require that men and women be given equal pay for equal work.
