BADHAM, Robert Edward, a Representative from California; born in Los Angeles, Calif., June 9, 1929; attended public schools, Beverly Hills, Calif.; graduated, Beverly Hills High School, 1947; attended Occidental College, Eagle Rock, Calif., 1947-1948; B.A., Stanford (Calif.) University, 1951; business executive; served on active duty with the United States Naval Reserve, 1951-1954; director, officer, Hoffman Hardware Co., Los Angeles, 1952-1969; served in California assembly, 1963-1976; delegate to California State Republican conventions, 1962-1976; delegate to Republican National Conventions, 1964, 1968, 1972, 1980 and 1984; elected as a Republican to the Ninety-fifth and to the five succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1977-January 3, 1989); was not a candidate for renomination in 1988 to the One Hundred First Congress; died on October 21, 2005, Newport Beach, Calif.

Badham were accumulated during his 25 years of public service in California and include materials from his terms in the California Assembly and in the U.S. House of Representatives. This collection documents only Robert Badham's political career and not other aspects of his life. Materials provide information on the work of Robert Badham and legislative colleagues concerning both issues relating to Southern California and the state as a whole, and those of more national and international significance. Collection materials include legislative correspondence, correspondence with constituents, photographs, speeches, publications, newsclippings, campaign documentation, legislative activity files, press releases, and regalia. Also included are numerous video cassette tapes, many of them interviews with national figures on issues of concern to Robert Badham's constituents that were aired as "The Badham Report" on cable TV in his congressional district.
