Press Release

Washington D.C.— Today, Rep. Wild voted for H.R. 4346, the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act, making historic investments to revitalize and massively increase American-made semiconductors, streamline and protect American supply chains, and strengthen national security. The CHIPS and Science Act will ensure America remains a global economic leader while at the same time cutting everyday costs for consumers.

“I fought to make sure the CHIPS and Science Act would benefit Pennsylvanians and there is no doubt that it will,” said Rep. Wild. “We’re making massive investments in American manufacturing to end our dependence on foreign manufacturers, including China, while creating good-paying union jobs. My bipartisan Regional Innovation Act, included in CHIPS, will create 20 regional technology hubs to help communities like the Greater Lehigh Valley reach their full potential.”

The bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act addresses the nationwide shortage of semiconductor chips that has severely affected American manufacturing—including manufacturing in the Lehigh Valley. The legislation will increase domestic production of chips that are critical to our national security and reassert our economic independence while creating jobs, lowering costs, and ensuring that these investments benefit American workers, not corporate bank accounts or our adversaries.

Rep. Wild’s Regional Innovation Act will empower the United States to be a leader in technology and innovation sectors critical to our national security by investing in regional economic development and resilience. These hubs will spur research and development by creating partnerships between local governments, colleges and universities, private industry, non-profits, and community organizations.
