WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Susan Wild voted to pass H.R. 7910, the Protecting Our Kids Act, a gun safety package that will help save lives and reduce prevalence of gun violence sweeping the United States.

Americans should not fear being gunned down as they go about their daily lives. We should not fear shopping at a grocery store, going to a concert, dropping our children off at school, or attending our houses of worship,” said Rep. Wild. “In 2022, we have seen more mass-shootings than days passed. Enough is enough. For years, the American people have shown clear support for the commonsense legislation the House of Representatives passed tonight and that I was proud to support. Now it is time for the Senate to follow our lead and pass the Protecting Our Kids Act.”

The Protecting Our Kids Act will make an enormous difference in the fight against gun violence by raising the purchasing age for certain semi-automatic weapons from 18 to 21 years old; cracking down on gun trafficking and straw purchases to get illegal guns off the streets; closing the ghost gun loophole; strengthening safe storage requirements; and outlawing bump stocks and high-capacity machine guns.
