I hope you all had relaxing and enjoyable July 4th celebrations with your friends and families. As this Independence Day has come and gone, I've been reminded of all we've been through as a nation over the last year, and how we've weathered it together.

As I look ahead to the summer and discuss plans with friends and family, I am hopeful that everyday life is returning to normal. Hopefully, the slowdown in vaccination rates will not impede the progress we have made. I appreciate how people in the Sixth District have come together to do their part to get through the difficult past year-and-a-half.

Dear Friends,
A few weeks ago, deadly tornadoes ripped through our district in Alabama. Homes and property were destroyed. While visiting the paths of the tornados that struck the Sixth District, I saw extensive damage to homes, businesses, and timber. I am amazed and extremely thankful that there were no fatalities.

With all the hardship associated with the pandemic and riots, many people thought 2021 would have to be much better. Unfortunately, the riot at the United States Capitol on January 6th showed that this year may bring even more trouble and hardship.
