Object Details

On December 11, 1941, just three days after declaring war against Japan, the House approved a declaration of war against Germany and Italy. In a short message delivered on the House Floor by a reading clerk, President Franklin Roosevelt warned “Delay invites great danger. Rapid and united efforts by all of the people of the world who are determined to remain free will ensure a world victory of the forces of justice and righteousness over the forces of savagery and of barbarism.”
