Cummings Condemns Trump’s FY2018 Budget

Washington, D.C. (Mar. 16, 2017)—Today, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued the following statement on President Donald Trump’s FY2018 Budget:

“President Trump said he would help America’s forgotten men and women, but his budget does just the opposite.  His budget would devastate working families across this nation while at the same time lavishing extravagant favors on his rich friends.  He proposes draconian cuts to critical job training and housing assistance programs, steep cuts to the National Institutes of Health and drastic reductions in the federal workforce.   The President's budget—together with Paul Ryan's healthcare annihilation bill—make it clear that Republicans’ top priority is giving tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans while taking vital services away from everyone else.”
