Netanyahu addresses Congress

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed a joint session of Congress on Tuesday, March 3.

House Speaker John Boehner welcomed him to the chamber.

Netanyahu thanked the lawmakers for having him.

"My God bless the State of Israel, and may God bless the United States of America," he said.

This was Netanyahu’s third time addressing a joint session. Former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill is the only other foreign leader to address a joint session three times.

The first foreign leader to address a joint session was King Kalakaua of Hawaii in 1874, before Hawaii became a state.
