WASHINGTON, D.C. —  Senator John Thune announced today that the United States Department of Agriculture has approved a $50,000 housing preservation grant for the Neighborhood Housing Services of Black Hills, Inc. in Deadwood.

“Owning a home is key to financial security,” Thune said. “I’m pleased to announce this important funding that will help low-income homeowners in South Dakota make necessary repairs to their homes so they can maintain ownership and continue down the path to financial independence.”

The Neighborhood Housing Services of Black Hills, Inc. will use these Rural Development funds to assist in providing timely, low-cost, high-quality housing repairs for 17 low-income homeowners. The funds will be used for roof repair along with heating, electrical and plumbing needs.
