Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, today released the following statement regarding a "notice of violation" issued today by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency related to the Kettleman Hills toxic waste facility:

Senator Boxer said, "I am outraged that there was no action taken when these violations were first discovered. It is unconscionable that EPA dropped the ball on this, when we know that PCBs have been linked to cancer and other serious health effects. I am going to do everything I can to right these wrongs."
