Academy Nominations

Thank you for your interest in obtaining information about receiving a nomination for an appointment to one of the four U.S. Service Academies. Senator Manchin applauds your ambition to pursue your education and the obvious dedication to our country that has inspired you to seek this appointment. If you have further questions regarding the application process, please contact Senator Manchin's Charleston office at 304-342-5855. 

As you may or may not be aware, Members of Congress are limited in the number of nominations that they can submit each year. Senator Manchin will consider each candidate for a nomination to fill vacancies to selected academies. Academy officials have the responsibility to appoint selected nominees based on their competitive evaluation. Senator Manchin is pleased to provide my application and checklist online for your convenience. All required information must be submitted by October 1st, 2022.

There are three ways to submit your application:  through my online application, or in person to one of Senator Manchin's offices.

Summer Programs

U.S. Naval Academy

Naval Academy Summer Seminar offers an opportunity for rising high school seniors to experience USNA for one week. Participants learn about life at the Naval Academy, where academics, athletics, and professional training play equally important roles in developing our nation's future leaders.

June 4- June 9, 2022
June 11-16, 2022
June 18-23, 2022

During the Summer STEM Program, campers create, build, and explore in world-class lab facilities, working alongside USNA's distinguished faculty and Midshipmen. Participants will also experience real-life application and learning at one of the Top 5 "Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs" in the country, as ranked by U.S. News and World Report.

June 6-11, 2022 for current 8th graders (rising 9th graders)
June 13-18, 2022 for current 9th graders (rising 10th graders)
June 20-24, 2022 for current 10th graders (rising 11th graders)

U.S. Air Force Academy

USAFA Summer Sports Camps:

This summer will once again be packed with great opportunities for athletes from ages 8-18 to hone their skills in their sport of choice. We will offer sports camps in the following sports: baseball, basketball, cheerleading, diving, fencing, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, tennis, track/cross country, volleyball and wrestling. We will also offer elite camps in certain sports.

Registration is now open and our camps are first come, first served so don’t delay!

Our 2022 camps will be broken into three sessions.

Session 1 will run from June 6-10,

Session 2 will run from June 13-17

Session 3 will run from June 20-22

USAFA Summer Seminar:

Summer Seminar at the United States Air Force Academy gives students the opportunity to experience life on campus firsthand. Specially designed for high school juniors heading into their senior year, Summer Seminar allows participants to live like a U.S. Air Force Academy cadet for four days.

Applications are open from Dec. 1 through Jan. 15.

U.S. Coast Guard Academy

The Academy Introduction Mission (AIM) program challenges and inspires rising high school seniors interested in serving their country and exploring technical degree programs. During six actionpacked
