Allen of Illinois, 1940–1942; United States Army Air Force, 1942–1946; United States Air Force Reserve, 1946–1971; staff, House Committee on Rules, 1947–1949; reading clerk, Office of the Clerk, United States House of Representatives, 1949–1953; elected Clerk of the United States House of Representatives to the Eighty-third Congress (January 3, 1953–January 3, 1955); appointed Sergeant at Arms to the Eighty-third Congress, served concurrently as Clerk and Sergeant at Arms until a successor was selected, July 8 1953–September 15, 1953; minority clerk, United States House of Representatives, 1955–1957; business executive, 1957–1972; died on December 31, 1973, in Arlington, Va.
