Command Sergeant Major Michael J. Coffey

Command Sergeant Major Coffey is a native of Louisville, Kentucky and he enlisted in as an Infantryman in the United States Army in January of 1994.  

His previous assignments include the 75th Ranger Regiment, 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry, 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry, 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry, 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry, and 4th Brigade, 101st Airborne Division.

His most recent assignments include CSM 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry, CSM 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, CSM Operations Group, National Training Center and CSM 3rd Infantry Division.

CSM Coffey has deployments in support of Operation Uphold Democracy, Operation Safe Haven, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.

CSM Coffey is a graduate of all NCOES courses from Primary Leadership Development Course to the Nominative Leaders Course.  CSM Coffey has completed Airborne School, Jumpmaster Course, Air Assault School, Ranger School, Pathfinder Course, Infantry Mortar Leaders Course, OC/T Course, the First Sergeant’s Course, Battalion and Brigade Pre-Command Course, and the Keystone Course.  CSM Coffey holds an Associate’s Degree in Arts and Science from Pierce College and a Bachelor Degree in Organizational Leadership and Learning from the University of Louisville.

His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Award, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Korean Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation and Valorous Unit Award.  CSM Coffey has also earned his Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Air Assault Badge and Ranger Tab.  His foreign awards include German, British, and Canadian Parachutist Badge, as well as being a member of the Infantry Order of Saint Maurice, the Cavalry and Armor Order of Saint George, and the Field Artillery Order of Saint Barbara.
