In the 117th Congress, Rep. Webster will continue to serve on the Transportation and Infrastructure and Natural Resources Committees. He will also serve on the House Science, Space and Technology Committee. From moving people and goods effectively and efficiently to protecting our state's unique environment and natural resources to ensuring Florida remains a national leader in aerospace and innovation, these committees develop and advocate for policies that are critical to all Floridians and Florida's economy. 

The House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure

The House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure has jurisdiction over all modes of transportation: aviation, maritime and waterborne transportation, highways, bridges, mass transit, and railroads. The Committee also has jurisdiction over other aspects of our national infrastructure, such as clean water and waste water management, the transport of resources by pipeline, flood damage reduction, the management of federally owned real estate and public buildings, the development of economically depressed rural and urban areas, disaster preparedness and response, and hazardous materials transportation. The Committee’s broad oversight portfolio includes many federal agencies, including the Department of Transportation, the U.S. Coast Guard, Amtrak, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the General Services Administration, the Army Corps of Engineers, and others.

  • Webster was selected to serve as Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management Subcommittee Ranking Member in the 117th Congress. This subcommittee has jurisdiction over and conducts oversight of programs within the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Homeland Security’s other disaster management responsibilities; the Public Buildings Service (PBS) of the General Services Administration (GSA), which is the civilian landlord of the federal government. This includes the authorization and oversight of planning, site and design, construction, acquisition, and renovation of public buildings, courthouses, and border facilities, and the leasing of space for federal employees.
  • Webster is also a senior member of the Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee. This subcommittee has jurisdiction over matters relating to water resources development, conservation and management, water pollution control and water infrastructure, and hazardous waste cleanup.  A number of agencies administer programs that address one or more of these issues; including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
   An active member of the subcommittee since his election to Congress, Rep. Webster has been involved
   in the development and passage of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) to preserve, protect
   and invest in Florida's critical ports, inland waterways, locks, dams, flood protection, ecosystem
   restoration, and other water resources infrastructure important to Floridians, Florida jobs and our
   nation. 
   
   He has been named Audubon Florida’s Champion of the Everglades for his leadership in getting
   Everglades restoration legislation passed as part of WRDA.

The House Committee on Natural Resources

The committee considers legislation about American energy production, mineral lands and mining, fisheries and wildlife, public lands, oceans, Native Americans, irrigation and reclamation.

  • Webster will continue to serve on the Subcommittee on Water, Oceans, and Wildlife, which is responsible for matters concerning America’s water resources, federal irrigation projects, generation of electric power from federal water projects, interstate water issues and fisheries management.

The House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology

The committee has jurisdiction over all energy research, development, and demonstration, and projects therefor, and all federally owned or operated non-military energy laboratories; astronautical research and development, including resources, personnel, equipment, and facilities; civil aviation research and development; environmental research and development; marine research; commercial application of energy technology; National Institute of Standards and Technology, standardization of weights and measures and the metric system; National Aeronautics and Space Administration; National Science Foundation; National Weather Service; outer space, including exploration and control thereof; science scholarships; scientific research, development, and demonstration, and projects therefor.
