Duckworth Statement on Bipartisan Senate Budget Agreement

[WASHINGTON, DC] – After voting early this morning in support of the bipartisan Senate budget agreement, U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) released the following statement:

“This agreement is not perfect but it ends the destructive cycle of short-term budgeting and uncertainty that damage our Armed Forces and harm our military readiness. After far too many short-term extensions, this compromise agreement also finally provides our Veterans with critical resources, funds community health centers, bolsters the fight against the opioid crisis and delivers much-needed disaster relief for distressed communities across our country.

“I applaud my Senate colleagues for coming together to reach this bipartisan deal. Now that the Senate will finally move on to immigration, I am eager to work across party lines to find a much-needed solution that solves the manufactured crisis created by President Trump and protects Dreamers, who have done nothing wrong, contribute so much to our country and pledge allegiance to the American flag.”
