Congressionally Directed Spending

The U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations will consider requests for Congressionally-directed spending items in Fiscal Year 2023 appropriations bills with enhanced transparency and accountability.

The Office of Senator Tammy Duckworth accepted applications for Fiscal Year 2023 (FY23) Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) requests via electronic application until 5pm ET on Thursday, April 7th, 2022. Applications for FY2023 are now closed.

The CDS process enables Congress to allocate funding for specific local projects. In Fiscal Year 2022, Senator Duckworth and Senator Durbin were successful in securing $211 million for infrastructure, economic development and essential services projects for communities throughout our state. As she did last year in an effort to ensure transparent and equitable consideration, Senator Duckworth will once again work with an Independent Review Board to examine and evaluate projects.

Additional information on projects that Senator Duckworth is requesting for Fiscal Year 2023 can be found here, and the projects she supported last year can be found here. Click here to review the Senate Appropriations Committee’s transparency and accountability requirements.
