WASHINGTON –Harrison teen Lindsey Pritchett is one of ten national winners in the National FFA Risk Management Essay program sponsored by the USDA Risk Management Agency, earning her a trip to Washington, D.C. 

Encouraged by her agriculture teachers, Pritchett, 18, a senior at Bergman High School, wrote about her experiences in poultry production and raising more than ten breeds of exotic chickens for show. Her efforts earned her recognition at local fairs as well as at the American Poultry Association National Meet in Shawnee, Oklahoma where she won First Place in Senior Showmanship. 

“I never thought that my chicken project would land me in Washington, D.C. I encourage other students to take part in something that they enjoy doing and have an interest in. I’ve been blessed to have a wonderful trip to our nation’s capital,” Pritchett said. 

Pritchett met with U.S. Senator John Boozman on Thursday during her trip to Washington D.C. during award recognition events. 

“Lindsey’s hard work, dedication and passion for her project are all evident in her essay. We are so proud of her accomplishment. This is a great opportunity for her to meet the people involved with agriculture policies and for her to continue to explore her interest in agriculture,” Boozman said.  

Pritchett will attend the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville beginning in the fall where she plans on studying poultry science and bioengineering. She is the daughter of Alan and Jeri Pritchett.
