ICYMI: Congresswoman Elaine Luria Participates in AARP Tele-town Hall
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Yesterday, Congresswoman Luria participated in an AARP tele-town hall to discuss with constituents their questions and concerns pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic and how her office can assist retired constituents during these trying times. During the town hall, participants had an opportunity to ask questions to the Congresswoman directly about the COVID-19 pandemic, including testing, relief needed for long-term care facilities, and federal economic relief programs.
"During these trying times, I have been working diligently to provide information and support to Coastal Virginians," said Congresswoman Luria. "I appreciated this opportunity to speak directly with AARP members throughout Hampton Roads. I thank all those who participated in this informative tele-town hall and AARP for graciously hosting."
Congresswoman Luria has been a consistent and effective champion for Coastal Virginians during this global pandemic. From establishing a small business hotline to demanding transparency and accountability from the SBA, Congresswoman Luria has prioritized accessibility and advocacy. Additionally, Congresswoman Luria pressed the IRS to provide answers to constituents regarding stimulus payments for nonfilers and the need for an IRS hotline for constituents without reliable internet access. Congresswoman Luria called on the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Health and Human Services (HHS) to better facilitate nursing home accountability and support for assisted living facilities.
Congresswoman Elaine Luria represents Virginia's 2nd Congressional District. She serves on the House Armed Services Committee, where she is the Vice Chair of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, and the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, where she serves as Chair of the Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs Subcommittee.
