Congressional Art Competition

The Congressional Art Competition - An Artistic Discovery of California's 16th District

The 2022 Congressional Art Competition has officially been announced! Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school art competition to recognize and encourage young artistic talent in our district. The theme this year is “Your Hometown.”

The Congressional Art competition is open to all high school students and home-schooled students with high school equivalents (grades 9-12) in California’s 16th Congressional District. Students may submit:

  • Paintings - including oil, acrylics, and watercolor
  • Drawings - Pencil, Colored Pencil, Markers, Ink, Pastels, and Charcoal
  • Mixed media - use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, or watercolor
  • Computer generation art
  • Photography
  • Printmedia - Lithographs, Silkscreens, and Block Prints

All entries must be original in concept, design, and execution and may not violate any U.S. copyright laws. Any entry that has been copied from an existing photo or image (including a painting, graphic, or advertisement) that was created by someone other than the student is a violation of the competition rules and will not be accepted.

Students must submit their entries with a signed 2022 Student Release form to my Fresno Office by the close of business day on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.
