Larson Celebrates Banner Presentation of the 1,000th Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Window Frame Delivery

November 8, 2022

Hartford, CT – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) visited the GKN Aerospace Services Structures in Cromwell to celebrate the 1,000th Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) window frame delivery.

“Congratulations to GKN Aerospace for reaching this milestone,” said Larson. “Connecticut has a highly skilled workforce who work tirelessly to produce high quality and high performing advanced components, and I am proud to fight for programs that fuel Connecticut jobs. The Joint Strike fighter is the largest defense procurement program in U.S. history and supports nearly 18,000 jobs across Connecticut, resulting in nearly $2 billion in economic activity. The 1,000th Joint Strike Fighter window frame delivery demonstrates Connecticut's commitment to advanced manufacturing as it continues to grow and support the F-35 program.”

“It’s an honor and privilege to continue to support the aerospace industry here in Connecticut.  GKN Aerospace is well positioned to support our customers and their future growth and look forward in expanding our capabilities to support the warfighter,” said Lindsay Phillips, Vice President and General Manager of GKN Advanced Defense Systems.

GKN supplies the sapphire window frame, which protects the F-35's Electro-Optical Targeting System (EOTS). As Co-Chair of the bipartisan Joint Strike Fighter Caucus, Rep. Larson has led the charge for the F-35 program in Congress.
