CDC Mask Guidance

Free at-home COVID-19 Rapid Test Kits
The Biden Administration has secured at-home COVID-19 test kits for those that request them. You can order your completely free rapid tests online—and have them delivered to your home directly. The United States Postal Service will ship them in 7 to 12 days. Please note that 
each residential address is limited to one order, which contains four tests.

COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Shots
The best way to protect yourself and others from new variants is by getting fully vaccinated, including a booster shot for adults. A second booster shot for the COVID-19 vaccine is now available for people age 50 and older and those with compromised immune systems. COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility 
Everyone 5 years of age and older is now eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccination. The Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines have received full FDA approval. Find a location close to you to get the vaccine by visiting: https://www.vaccines.gov/.

Americans Abroad​ 

International travelers who contract COVID-19 while abroad should consult the State Department guidance that can be found here. 

Constituentscan register with https://step.state.gov/, the State Department’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program, to get updates as COVID-19 travel guidance changes. The State Department provides a list of travel advisories for those who are planning to fly outside of the United States that can be found here: State Department Travel Advisories

 

Funeral Assistance supported by FEMA

FEMA is now offering financial assistance to North Carolinians who have lost loved ones due to COVID-19. North Carolinians who paid for funeral expenses after January 20, 2020, for an individual whose death may have been caused by or was likely the result of COVID-19 can apply for up to $9,000 of assistance per funeral through FEMA’s dedicated call center at 844-684-6333; TTY 800-462-7585, Monday-Friday, 9 AM ET - 9 PM ET. No online applications will be accepted.

Housing/Renters Assistance

  • Housing Hotline of Greensboro and Guilford County provides information on low income housing, linkage to agencies that may have money for emergency rent, and other support. The Housing Hotline can be reached by calling (336) 691-9521.
  • Legal Aid - Greensboro Office - If you are in need of legal advice or representation, Legal Aid of North Carolina is a statewide nonprofit that may be able to assist you. Legal Aid has an office located at 122 North Elm Street, Greensboro, North Carolina 27401. They can be reached by calling (336) 272-0148.

In early April 2022, the Social Security Administration added more in-person appointments and will now offer in-person service for people without an appointment.
