Community Project Submissions

For Fiscal Year 2023, the House Appropriations Committee is considering limited requests for Community Projects.

Rep. Walberg is no longer accepting applications for suggested Community Projects to be funded in FY23. The Appropriations Committee has said they will only be able to fund a limited number of the projects submitted from Members of Congress. To view Rep. DEADLINE: COB April 20, 2022

How to formulate your project request:

The deadline to submit project requests to Rep. Walberg’s office was COB April 20, 2022 by emailing the form(s) and all requested documentation to: MI07TW_Community_Project_Funding_Requests@mail.house.gov.

The Appropriations Committee will give added weight to project requests that already have local, state or private funding and only need the remaining federal funds to fully complete the project or implement the program. The Appropriations Committee has limited funding available for Community Projects.

Examples of the types of Projects that are funded through the Appropriations Process:

Projects that are often funded include building a community center, senior center, recreation center or park, water infrastructure, transportation infrastructure, health care services, education programs, social services, police services or equipment, and other local government projects and programs. Transparency and Good Governance

Only requests made by state or local governmental and eligible nonprofits will be accepted. For transparency, all Community Project funding requests made by Rep. Walberg will be posted on his website at the time the request is made to the Committee. The information posted will include:

  • the proposed recipient,
  • the address of the recipient,
  • the amount of the request,
  • and an explanation of the request, including purpose, and a justification for why it is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds.
