U.S. Senator John Boozman today issued the following statement on the passing of Lowell Police Chief Joe Landers.

“I am saddened by the tragic news of the passing of Chief Landers.  Joe dedicated his life to public safety and his work made a great impact on the community of Lowell.  He was well-respected by the citizens of Lowell and his presence will be greatly missed.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family.”

Landers passed away in the early morning hours from injuries sustained after his motorcycle was hit last Friday night in Florida.  Police say the man who ran into Landers motorcycle and fled the scene was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
