Website Accessibility

The FBI is committed to providing access to our electronic and information technology for all employees and members of the public with disabilities. We comply with the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Section 508 requires that we provide individuals with disabilities who are authorized access to our systems with access to and use of information and data that is comparable to individuals without disabilities, unless an “undue burden” would be imposed on the Bureau.

Please help us respond to you in the most helpful way by indicating:

  • the nature of your accessibility problem,
  • the internet address of the information you are trying to access, and
  • your preferred format for an alternative means by which you may want to receive the information—i.e., an electronic format like ASCII, standard or large print—along with your contact information.

This website is best viewed using the latest versions of popular web browsers. Some of the publications on fbi.gov are in pdf (Portable Document Format). To view them you will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in installed on your computer. The reader can be downloaded at no cost from Adobe’s website.

Our goal is to eliminate any barriers people with disabilities may encounter in accessing FBI information or to provide an alternate means of accessing that information.

Accessibility of FBI Facilities

FBI Headquarters, field offices, and other facilities comply with accessibility standards to ensure access for employees and visitors with disabilities, as required by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Architectural Barriers Act of 1968.

The Architectural Barriers Act requires buildings or facilities to be accessible if they are designed, built, or altered with federal dollars or leased by federal agencies after August 12, 1968. Complaints about inaccessibility of FBI buildings or facilities should be made directly to the U.S. Access Board at access-board.gov/enforcement.

Reasonable Accommodations for Job Applicants

The FBI provides legally entitled reasonable accommodations (RAs) to qualified job applicants with disabilities or sincerely held religious beliefs.

  • Medical Condition: An RA based on a medical condition is any change in the work environment (or in the manner in which work is performed) to enable a qualified person with a disability to enjoy equal employment opportunities and/or perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Sincerely Held Religious Beliefs: An RA based on a sincerely held religious belief modifies rules or policies to follow a person's sincerely held religious beliefs, observances, or practices.

To ask questions or initiate a request, email the FBI's RA Program or call (202) 324-2158.
