Co-Director of the Office of Obesity Research

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking a Co-Director of the Office of Obesity Research (OOR). The OOR is located organizationally under the auspices of the Office of the Director, NIDDK. The OOR Co-Directors represent the two divisions with primary responsibility for obesity-related extramural research, the Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition (DDDN) and the Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolic Diseases (DDEMD). This position is a part of the NIDDK Senior Leadership team, reporting to the DDEMD Division Director. This position will facilitate the development of a new and exciting area of research integrating cutting edge obesity research and data science. This requires an exceptional senior level individual with unique scientific expertise in obesity research and computational and data science to provide leadership within NIDDK, across the NIH, and to the extramural community to move obesity research into this new area. It is desired that this position will also be responsible for overseeing a small scientific portfolio that aligns with the candidate’s expertise and interests and the priorities of the DDEMD. Program Director for Obesity Research

The NIDDK is seeking an exceptional basic scientist with expertise in the molecular drivers of the etiology and pathophysiology of obesity to work as a program officer in the Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases (DDEM). The program officer position would involve the administrative oversight of grants and the development of new initiatives in the obesity area for our division that would focus on basic and translational science in obesity and diabetes. Program Director for Diabetes Clinical Research

NIDDK is seeking a physician scientist with experience in clinical care and clinical research in diabetes to lead programs aimed to improve health outcomes in individuals with diabetes. The program may include ongoing observational studies to examine the long-term effect of intensive diabetes management for type 1 diabetes, clinical trial networks that perform studies addressing the prevention of and early intervention in type 1 diabetes, studies to prevent or reverse hypoglycemia unawareness, as well as studies of individuals with atypical forms of diabetes to better inform the study of type 2 diabetes. Program Director for Diabetes Clinical and Translational Research

The NIDDK is seeking a physician scientist with experience in clinical and translational research to lead clinical studies and trials in the areas of type 1 and type 2 DM. Areas of focus may include managing translational research on improving outcomes for people with and at risk of developing diabetes and developing management strategies for diabetes in older individuals.
